For the economy traveller, Valencia Cafe is a nice fit. It's located at the end of a row of low-cost hotels near Russell Square, Kings Cross and British Museum.
Yelp has it listed as American(traditional). I guess in some ways its American-like in that it is owned and operated by Turks featuring falafels, kebobs and English breakfasts in the morning.
I had a falafel last night that was a rousingly tasty and laughably sloppy. Staff was fun loving. I came back for the British "Traditional" breakfast this morning. It's a massive plate of food that would make a Midwestern farm boy content i.e. sausage, egg, ham, baked beans and french fries. They have an espresso machine.
I like this place! -

Excellent service. Great breakfast both delicious and efficiently served... immediately. Portion size are very generous. If traveling abroad I would recommend it for the cost sensitive. Superb! Excellent coffee too!

A cut above your average cafe with sticky plastic seats, stained lino and big squeezy sauce bottles. This cafe has sticky plastic seats, stained lino and big squeezy sauce bottles, but there was something extra cool about it.
It may be the fact that in the twilight it looked a little like the brightly lit corner bar in that famous Hopper painting ('Nighthawks'). It may have been the super charming guy behind the counter, it may have been the fact that all the windows were open so I could enjoy the way the cafe takes up the whole corner of a crossroads, people-watch and enjoy the smell of rain. It may be the way said charming guy behind the counter spoke kindly to the confused, mumbling old man who came in for a cappuccino.
It definitely has something to do with the very delicious £3.49 falafels in a pitta with salad and garlicky yoghurt sauce. -

My friend and I were both very hungry when we arrived in London so we just went in the first place we saw, and this happened to be the place. It is a small diner on the corner of a street with a cheeky fellow working behind the counter. I ordered the vegetarian burger and chips, and my friend got the English breakfast, which included baked beans, eggs, bacon, sausage and chips. I have to say, this is one of the best veggie burgers I've had and after being in Europe for three weeks and paying for ketchup everywhere, it was really exciting to find huge squeeze bottles filled with ketchup and...sour cream!? Awesome.
The price is right and the food is great. We have already eaten here twice and will probably return once more before we leave London. -

Really solid place. Run by a really nice middle eastern guy who happily takes orders. I got one of the specials, a chicken gyro (choice of chicken or lamb), that came with a large portion of fries (chips). The meat was well seasoned and there was plenty of it. With my order coming in at £6.50 I will definitely be coming back here and I told the owner as I walked out!
